Julia de la Cal, the basket maker and designer behind 'La Parabólica', will be one of the artisans who make up the new ArtEncaixe section, which will debut at the XXX anniversary of the Mostra do Encaixe Diputación de A Coruña, which will be held from October 8 to 12, 2021.
'La Parabólica' focuses its activity on basketry, specifically on basketry services: from the creation of everyday items such as a basket or a bag, furniture and lighting, to basketry applied to landscaping and interior design, artistic installations, interventions in space, workshops and educational activities.
In 2004, Julia de la Cal moved to Barcelona to study Graphic and Industrial Design at the Massana School, where she also completed a postgraduate degree in Crafts and Design. In Barcelona, she developed her career as a designer and brand manager for more than 10 years.

At the end of 2015 he returned to Galicia, where he obtained the Craftsmanship Charter and continues to work in both the design and basketry fields. He currently collaborates with different entities and professionals, developing participatory workshops and teaching courses in traditional and contemporary basketry, participating in fairs and meetings inside and outside Galicia and growing his own wicker.
For Julia de la Cal, participating in the XXX Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña is “a matter of great pride”, an opportunity to “show the world handmade pieces, made in a unique way and transmit the emotions that Lace gives to manufacturing”, she emphasizes.
