The City Council of Camariñas has just published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) the rules for the XXIX New Designers competition for the XXXII Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, which will be held between April 5 and 9, 2023.
The main objective of the competition is to encourage and promote the application of Camariñas Lace in fashion, with three prizes awarded to the best collections based on the evaluation of the official jury. This edition sees the debut of a new category, that of the most commercial collection.
The first prize will consist of 2,100 euros, the second of 1,200 euros, and both the third prize and the prize for the most commercial collection will have a financial award of 600 euros each.
The deadline for submitting works begins today, Tuesday, August 23, and ends on December 2, 2022. The four designs that make up the collection must have applied Camariñas lace and those that present a different lace will not be accepted.
All new designers, regardless of their nationality or country of residence, can participate in the call, as long as they are students who are studying in centers that teach design and clothing techniques, whether or not they have completed their studies; and all those people linked to the world of design who, although being professionals in the field of fashion, due to maintaining a contractual or autonomous relationship with a company in the sector, are not part of the design team of the same.
Participation may be done individually or in a group, in the latter case the maximum number of members being three people. Each applicant will present a collection composed of 4 designs. The theme and modality are free for both men's and women's fashion. Children's fashion designs are excluded.
To submit the documentation, it can be done at the Camariñas Town Hall, Insuela Square, number 57, during office hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and by certified mail.
The councilor of the Mostra, Encarna Liñeiro, hopes that "the competition will continue the positive trend of recent years, in which the level has been impressive" and the director of the Mostra, Dolores Lema, states that "this competition is already fully consolidated as a reference at a national level for boys and girls who are taking their first steps in the world of fashion".
