Dear residents of the Camariñas City Council. It is a source of pride for me, having been part of the volunteers in the first editions of the Mostra, to be the Councilor for Culture, Lace and Tourism and in charge of organizing this very important XXX Camariñas Lace Show. As many of you know, I am the daughter and granddaughter of lace makers; I learned to lace when I was very young, along with other friends of mine, in the house of the legendary Camariñas lace maker “A Casmaia”.
Today I see with pride how my daughters play the flute and how our most important cultural and identity heritage continues to be maintained and grown through the new generations. All this thanks to the commitment made by the successive governments of the City Council of Camariñas who have known how to protect, dignify and promote this art.
In this new stage of the Camariñas City Council, we will continue with that determination that our successors have passed on to us to achieve new goals that the times impose on us. For me, the Encaixe is the tradition, culture and history of our city council. A sign of identity that makes us unique in the world. Because there are many other laces on all continents, but none like ours: the Encaixe de Camariñas.
