Uxía Loureiro becomes the winner of the XXIX New Designers competition with the A Orixe collection

Tecer, by Fabiola Santos Baña, came in second place in the competition, while F.37, by Sofía Sánchez Rey and Santiago Iglesias Alonso, came in third. The new award for the most commercial collection went to Inmaculada Dios González with Isleño. The awards were presented by Sandra Insua, Encarna Liñeiro, José Figueroa, Luis Canosa and Olga Campos.

The closing day of the XXXII Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña served to reveal the winners of the XXIX New Designers competition. The first prize, awarded by the councilor of Camariñas, Encarna Liñeiro, went to Uxía Loureiro, who won over the professional jury with her collection The Origin.

The manager of the Vilan de Stolt Sea Farm plant, José Figueroa, presented the prize to Weaving, by Fabiola Santos Baña, which came in second place; while the collection F.37 from Sofía Sánchez Rey and Santiago Iglesias Alonso, who received the award from the founder of Frigoríficos de Camariñas, Luis Canosa; achieved third place. The award for the “Most Commercial Collection”, presented by the President of the Association of Businessmen and Tourism Promotion of Camariñas, Olga Campos, went to Inmaculada Dios González, with Islander. 

In this edition, a total of 4,500 euros were distributed in prizes divided as follows: a first prize of 2,100 euros, a second of 1,200 euros, a third of 600 euros, and the prize for the “Most Commercial Collection” also of 600 euros. 

A total of 40 young people who are taking their first steps in the world of fashion have applied for these awards. The backgrounds of the new designers were very diverse, having trained in the best schools in the country.
