The talent of the Costa da Morte was the protagonist in all the promotional material that was created to promote the XXXIV Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña. The basic element around which the rest of the pieces revolved, the poster, this year was the work of illustrator Laura Suárez from Ceará.
Laura Suárez, born in Dumbría but based in Cee, has recently been recognized with the XIX Castelao Comic Strip Award from the Provincial Council of A Coruña for her album 'A Raíña Cadaver', studied Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and completed a master's degree at the Elisava School in Barcelona, specializing in illustration and comics.
"Diego Alonso contacted me to make this year's poster, conveying to me the concept of the Mar de Piques campaign and the idea of the basket mixed with the pillow. I started with the line of that main element and from there, I prepared the composition of the illustration and the color range," he explains.
Regarding the selection of colors, he points out that “it was based on a mix of traditional and modern. The warm colors of the pillow, soft browns and strong reds, are contrasted with the blue of the sea and the pond, an eclectic blue that shows a windy and stormy day, so deep that only a silhouette of the Vilán Lighthouse can be glimpsed”. “The idea is to represent the storm, but also the calm, solidity and movement of a tradition with so much history, which is not afraid to experiment with new times and modernize itself”, he emphasizes.
