The Great Firms DEVOTA&LOMBA and Claudina Mata continue their idyll with the Camariñas Lace Exhibition

Modesto Lomba states that the goal of integrating the essence of Camariñas Lace into his pieces “is to achieve excellence.” The Granada-based designer could not miss the Mostra and will present a new collection of wedding dresses “in which I will explore femininity from a current point of view,” he points out.

DEVOTA&LOMBA and Claudina Mata, two of the Great Brands who regularly attend the Camariñas Lace Show, continue their romance with the event and will take their designs to the A Coruña Provincial Council catwalk.

As Modesto Lomba, of DEVOTA&LOMBA, explains, “for us, who start from our minimalist essence and craftsmanship, integrating the delicacy of lace is a challenge to achieve excellence, and we will also try to show creativity.” In the collection for this thirty-fifth edition “we will integrate lace with hats where we will link traditions and avant-garde.”

For her part, Claudina Mata states that being part of the XXXV Camariñas Lace Fair “is a real honor and also a great responsibility. It is an event with a lot of history that values a unique craftsmanship and being able to grow as a designer within this environment is something very special. This year I present a collection in which I continue to explore femininity from a current point of view, combining careful silhouettes with very prominent handcrafted details.”

The Granada native states that “lace is not only a complement, it is the common thread throughout the collection and I wanted to play with the contrasts between delicacy and structure, trying to achieve a balance between tradition and trend.”

“Granada has a very marked light, sensitivity and aesthetic strength, and this is always present in my way of designing. I like to convey that essence through the colors, shapes and attitude in the garments. By combining it with the lace from Camariñas, what I try to do is create a dialogue between two cultures: the warmth and expressiveness of Andalusia with the delicacy and precision of the Galician tradition. I think that this mixture greatly enriches the result”, highlights Mata, who has a message for the public: “You cannot miss my show, because it will be a very careful collection, made from respect and tradition but with a very current perspective. It is an opportunity to see how such a special craft can continue to grow, evolve and excite.”
