Susi Gesto and Uxía Rodríguez: from the Lace Exhibition to the XLIII Galician Costume Day parade

It will be this Saturday, July 30, when both artists will come together in the emblematic Mazarelos square. This event has been linked for decades to the Festas do Apóstolo, in Santiago de Compostela.

A new collaboration is born as a result of the success of the 'ArtEncaixe' catwalks and the Noveis Deseñadores de la Mostra de Encaixe de Camariñas Deputación de A Coruña: the tandem formed by Susi Gesto, craftswoman, and Uxía Rodríguez, designer participating in several editions of one of the most relevant fashion events at a national and international level, such as the Mostra do Encaixe.

The Galician Costume Day is an event closely linked to the Festas do Apóstolo, in Santiago de Compostela. There will be parades, exhibitions, competitions, workshops for young people... As the main novelty this year, the clothing fair "From yesterday to today" will take place, where our two protagonists will take part together.

Susi Gesto and Uxía Rodríguez: from the Lace Exhibition to the XLIII Galician Costume Day parade

“My creations are based on Compostela filigree, in metal, and this collaboration is very interesting. My pieces are based on tradition, but I always like to innovate and that is why I am counting on Uxía for this event”, says Susi Gesto, who says that “the Encaixe de Camariñas will be very present”.

For her part, Uxía Rodríguez, a good connoisseur of the Mostra, is “very excited about this event”. She will collaborate with the collection presented in the Mostra's New Designers competition in 2019, 'Brigos', which is also inspired by traditional Galician costumes but with touches of festivals from the hippie or rock era. “It's a pride for me”, she emphasizes, who says “I'm very excited about this collaboration and I hope it's the first of many”.
