The International Tourism Fair (FITUR) that is being held these days at IFEMA (Madrid) was the place chosen by the City Council of Camariñas to present the XXX edition of the Lace Fair, which will be held from April 8 to 12 and which aims to break stereotypes from the very beginning.
The edition that will mark the three decades of life of this event will not be just another one since the organization decided to break with the typical image of lace, an ancient art mistakenly associated with women's clothing, and used a male model as the image of the poster and the official spot for this year.
The mayor of Camariñas, Sandra Insua, managed to differentiate this event that spreads the name of Camariñas and the Costa da Morte around the world by obtaining a space at the Turespaña stand to be able to carry out the presentation of such a significant edition as this one.
There, Sandra Insua highlighted that “this event was born with the aim of highlighting a key element of Camariñas as a town and as a community and has far exceeded that objective” since “the Mostra is internationally known, it is a reference fashion event in Galicia and Spain, and every year delegations arrive from all over the world who are amazed by the art of our palilleiras, who create magic with their hands”.
Furthermore, he stressed that "the essence of the first Camariñas Lace Exhibition remains intact. Times change, fashions pass but the essence is maintained and transmitted from generation to generation, it is something non-negotiable."
“As mayor of Camariñas, it is a source of pride for me to have the responsibility of organizing the thirtieth edition of the Lace Exhibition and to continue promoting and disseminating this tradition year after year,” concluded Insua.
