31,000 spectators at the inauguration of the virtual Lace Exhibition

The official inauguration took place from 4 pm and the videos continued until late at night. Mayor Sandra Insua was in charge of cutting the virtual ribbon. The programming will continue organized in blocks until this Sunday, April 12.

The opening day of the first virtual Lace Exhibition in history was a great success. A total of 31,700 people viewed the 18 videos from their homes that began at 4 p.m. on Facebook of the Show and on the channel of Event Youtube.

The official inauguration was carried out by the authorities, as usual. The mayor of Camariñas, Sandra Insua, was in charge of cutting a virtual lace ribbon to launch the most peculiar edition of the Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña.

Sandra Insua conveyed in her video that “the thirtieth edition of the Mostra do Encaixe will be held in 2021 and we will try to make it one of the best Mostra in history” and encouraged people to “stay at home and enjoy the Mostra”.

For his part, the president of the Provincial Council, Valentín González Formoso, highlighted that “we are not giving up on celebrating the Mostra and we are doing so through technological means, which are perfectly complementary to the spirit of the Mostra and the craft of palillar”.

The Government delegate in Galicia, Javier Losada, praised the idea of "doing the Mostra virtually so that it can be seen all over the world" and the Government sub-delegate in A Coruña, Pilar López-Rioboo, recalled that "it had to be a special edition to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary but this one will also be remembered for being the first Virtual Mostra".

Sol Vázquez, the general director of Commerce, highlighted the importance of this type of initiative at a time when “we are all separated but in reality we are more united than ever” and Elena Fabeiro, the manager of the Galician Crafts Foundation, wanted to express her gratitude “to all the people who make the Mostra possible, especially to all the palillo women and the little ones from the municipal school of palillo, who are the future”.

Also participating in this official inauguration were the first deputy mayor of Camariñas, Sergio Caamaño; the councilor for Commerce of Camariñas, Lara Pasantes; the councilor for Sports of Camariñas, Fabián Canosa; the spokesperson for the PP of Camariñas, Mauro Aufiero; the spokesperson for the BNG of Camariñas, Ilva Carril; the vice-president of Peniche (Portugal), Ana Rita Petinga; the mayor of the Autarchy of Serra D'El Rei (Portugal), Jorge Amador; and the mayor of Novedrate (Italy), Stefano Grassi.

After the inauguration, it was Damián Álvarez's turn, the natural international model from Vimianzo who is the protagonist of the poster and the official spot of the XXX Camariñas Lace Fair of the Provincial Council of A Coruña and who also did not want to miss this virtual event.

This was followed by appearances by the well-known designer and president of the Association of Spanish Fashion Creators (ACME), Modesto Lomba, and finally, the Great Designers' parade began with Amaya Fernandez Blanco and Esteban Freiria.

The programming will continue, organized by blocks, until this Sunday, April 12.
