Ondas do Mar brings Camariñas lace to the Artisanía de Galicia Awards with the 'Mar de Hielo' choker‘

The artisan Josefina Campaña has just participated in the Great Designers' catwalk at the Mostra do Encaixe. The unique piece, made with special threads for more than three months, is a tribute to all the men of the sea and, especially, to her father, Ramón Campaña 'O Ulludo'.

The craftswoman Josefina Campaña, at the head of the Ondas do Mar firm that participated for the first time in the Great Designers' parade of the XXXV Camariñas Lace Fair, Provincial Council of A Coruña, took lace to the Galician Crafts Awards with a unique piece: the 'Mar de Hielo' choker.

This piece is much more than a piece of avant-garde jewelry; it is a heartfelt tribute. As the creator herself explains, the necklace is dedicated “to all the sailors who are no longer here, who unfortunately went to sea or who have already had to leave, and to those who remain today”. But, above all, it is a very personal tribute to her father, the sailor Ramón Campaña, known in the village by the nickname 'O Ulludo'.

The creation of this exclusive choker took more than three months of intense work in the workshop, using special threads to achieve the spectacular final result.

A life linked to the sea

Josefina's bond with the sea goes far beyond the aesthetics of her brand. The daughter and relative of sailors —she belongs to the well-known Campaña family of Camariñas—, the craftswoman, in addition to being a teacher of palillo and having studied three years of design, has the title of skipper and boat driver. "At the beginning of my life I wanted to be a sailor. Today, life has changed, I have managed to get out of sad things, I have managed to put thread on the waves of the sea and dedicate this choker to my father," she confesses excitedly.

‘'Mar de Hielo' thus becomes the physical testimony of that immense love for her roots. This same feeling is what led her to dedicate her recent book, De nena, artesá a muller, to her father.

After the frenzy of the Mostra and the recognition of her work, Josefina now looks forward to sharing this jewel to "show the whole world the Mar de Hielo choker", demonstrating once again that Camariñas Lace is a living art capable of telling the deepest and most authentic stories of the Costa da Morte.
