Lace is a tradition that never ceases to adapt to new times and emerging needs. Good proof of this are the pieces by Edith del Valle, a Galician designer who joins in the application of this centuries-old tradition in her line of masks.
Del Valle, based in Compostela, decided on Encaixe de Camariñas 'because of my connection with the Mostra, in which I have already participated in several editions, and also because of its artisan and traditional values, which bring elegance but are also significant and meaningful to the society of Camariñas', points out the designer.
The director of the Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, Dolores Lema, had already explained that "we decided to take this step because many fashion designers are already requesting adapted lace pieces to be used in the masks they are creating."
Thus, the first model in the Edith del Valle line will be named Carmen, paying homage to the figure of Carmen Grela Rojo, composer, 'because it is important to give visibility to the role of women in all areas of society, and also in Camariñas, since in Encaixe it has its main exponent,' she added.
It is worth noting that all models will be made with approved fabric to meet the corresponding health parameters, and those for ceremonies will have a TNT filter for larger sizes. 'Fashion is not incompatible with safety; the context invites us to think that wearing a mask is a waste of time, and why not adapt it to our way of dressing,' concluded Edith del Valle, who added that they will soon be available on her website.
