José Matteos unfolds his creativity at the XXXV Lace Exhibition with MATTEÔS Bridal and ÔSE Couture

The bridal collection will arrive at Camariñas directly from its presentation in Paris, while the conceptual line will provide the counterpoint by exploring its duality with an exclusive soundtrack.

The Great Designers' catwalk of the XXXV Camariñas Lace Fair of the Provincial Council of A Coruña will host one of the most ambitious creative displays of this edition. Designer José Matteos will once again make a splash by presenting the new collections of his two brands: MATTEÔS Bridal, for brides, and the conceptual fashion brand ÔSE Couture.

For the creator, participating in this thirty-fifth anniversary has a very special and deeply symbolic meaning. “This may be my last collaboration with the Mostra for a while,” Matteos confesses. For this reason, he decided to present both collections to the Camariñan public for the first time as a recognition of a space that has been key in his career since his first participation in 2005, when he was awarded as an emerging designer.

“Camariñas Tierra Querida”: the commercial commitment to the palilleras

Under his bridal brand, MATTEÔS Bridal, the designer will take the catwalk with the “Camariñas Tierra Querida” collection. These proposals, which incorporate Camariñas lace, are being presented these same days (March 28-30) at an international convention for stores and showrooms in Paris, from where they will travel directly to Galicia for Easter.

This line is aimed at brides who are looking for special pieces and value artisanal work. For Matteos, the objective goes beyond the purely aesthetic: “I believe it is essential that the Mostra is not limited to just showing the lace, but that all the work has a tangible effect. That these dresses are sold and, in turn, generate new lace orders for the lacemakers, reinforcing their artisanal work and ensuring the continuity of their craft”, he claims.

“"Eternal Galicia": the conceptual counterpoint of ÔSE Couture

As a counterbalance to the bridal delicacy, the firm ÔSE Couture will present “Galicia Eterna”, a collection that will be fully released commercially in September, but which the audience of the Mostra will be able to enjoy first hand.

“It is a very strong proposal that connects with my roots and the deepest essence of my creative identity”, explains the designer. This line works as a perfect counterpoint, showing the duality that has always marked his vision. The staging will be fundamental, with music created exclusively for the fashion show in Camariñas that will not only accompany, but “build the message”.

To manage to integrate the ancient and delicate lace of Camariñas into two such different worlds (nuptial tradition and groundbreaking conceptual art), Matteos assures that the 'chip change' is simple thanks to his way of working.

Defining himself as a “needle and design craftsman”, Matteos personally makes the prototypes, applying a methodology developed over the years to ensure that the lace is integrated while respecting its delicacy. “At ÔSE Couture, creativity allows me to experiment, but the real challenge is to find the balance between design, the creation of a garment for the catwalk, haute couture and marketing, naturally integrating the Camariñas lace”, he concludes.
