This holy week, the first Virtual Lace Show

It will take place from April 8 to 12 and will be held through the Mostra Facebook page. All the groups involved in the regular operation of the event have sent their videos for the occasion. The programming is organized in blocks, following a structure similar to that of the original calendar. “The thirtieth edition of the event will be held in 2021, with more strength than ever,” highlights the mayor, Sandra Insua.

The City Council of Camariñas will organize the first Virtual Lace Exhibition in history from April 8 to 12. An initiative that will involve all the groups involved in the regular operation of the event and that will be developed through from the Facebook page of the Exhibition and Official YouTube channel of the Mostra

The health crisis generated by the spread of COVID-19 meant that the City Council of Camariñas had to cancel the XXX Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña. An unprecedented decision to respond to an unprecedented context that now has a novel reaction, adapting to the possibilities offered by technology.

For the development of this 'Virtual Exhibition', a block-based program was developed, following a structure similar to that of the event's usual calendar, and which includes specific slots for Great Designers, Young Designers, Artencaixe, Pequencaixe, Palilleras Meetings, International Delegations, Companies, Artists, Volunteers, Stands and Media.

The Department of the Mostra do Encaixe asked all these groups to send their videos introducing themselves and transmitting encouragement and strength to meet again and face the thirtieth edition of the event, which will be held in 2021, with even greater enthusiasm.

The videos will be uploaded according to the designed schedule, so those interested in following this Virtual Exhibition can now check what time to connect to see the Great Designers, the candidates for the Young Designers competition or to hear the sound of the chopsticks in the hands of the chopstick makers.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 8 April, will be the opening day and, as such, will be in charge of the institutions. From 4 pm. the president of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, Valentín González Formoso; the mayor of Camariñas, Sandra Insua; the general director of Commerce, Sol Abeal; the manager of the Crafts and Design Centre; Elena Fabeiro Castro; the mayor of Serra d'El-Rei, Jorge Amador; the vice-president of Peniche, Ana Rita Petinga; and the mayor of Novedrate; Serafino Grassi will participate. And then it will be the turn of the clear protagonist of the thirtieth edition of the Mostra, the international model Damián Álvarez, originally from Vimianzo, who will give way to the president of the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain (ACME), Modesto Lomba, to end the day with the first appearances of the Great Designers.

Sandra Insua explained that "as you already know, it was a very tough decision to have to cancel the Mostra do Encaixe, but I think that, thanks to this initiative, the path to 2021, the year in which we will celebrate the thirtieth edition, will be made a little easier."

“The strength of tradition is unstoppable,” said the Councilor of Mostra, Encarna Liñeiro, who hopes that “the Virtual Mostra will be well received” and also thanked all groups for their participation and highlighted the importance of “joining forces and encouragement in the times we are living in.”
