The XXX Camariñas Lace Exhibition begins, the Provincial Council of A Coruña, "the most awaited edition"

The official inauguration was carried out by the mayor of Camariñas, the government delegate in Galicia, and the president of the Provincial Council of A Coruña. Sandra Insua stated that “the whole of Camariñas needed a psychological boost like the one that the Mostra celebration gives us” and added that “without Mostra we are less strong, we are further away from each other”.

The XXX Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña is already underway, an edition that has been described on multiple occasions as "the most and is being held in the month of October after having to be postponed on two occasions due to the pandemic.

The mayor of Camariñas, Sandra Insua, the government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, and the president of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, Valentín González Formoso, were in charge of cutting the lace ribbon that symbolically marks the start of the Mostra.

Sandra Insua, in her second edition as mayor, stated that “the whole of Camariñas needed a psychological boost like the one that the celebration of the Mostra do Encaixe gives us because without the Mostra we are less strong, we are further away from each other.”

“Suspending the Mostra was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make and changing it to October is yet another act of responsibility,” confessed the mayor, who added that “from today until Tuesday we will once again be a place full of life and excitement.”

For his part, José Miñones said that for him “it is a pleasure to be here, at the most important lace meeting in the world”, he congratulated “for the enormous work that is being done to unite tradition and avant-garde” and made a recognition “from the Government of Spain to the work of the lacemakers, an example of tradition, innovation and work”.

Valentín González Formoso explained that “the Mostra is the result of the twinning of two institutions such as the Provincial Council of A Coruña and the City Council” and is also “the best example of what Camariñas is, not only about weaving lace but also about being a supportive town that stays connected to the world, through the sea and also through lace”. “For us this is a source of pride and that is why we maintain our commitment, a huge effort that both the Provincial Council and the City Council make and that is why we have to continue to value this event”, he stressed.

After the relevant visit to the different stalls and stands located in the two municipal pavilions prepared for the occasion, the authorities present were able to enjoy the 'Pequencaixe' parade and, to conclude, the inaugural catwalk of the Mostra, in which the participating firms showed for the first time the collections they had prepared for the Mostra with lace as the protagonist.

Damián Álvarez, Vimianzo's natural model and star of this edition's poster, was in charge of opening the first fashion show of great designers at the Mostra do Encaixe.
