Suso Calo, Aramar Style and Ondas do Mar in the 'ArtEncaixe' parade of the XXXII Lace Show of Camariñas

This will be the first participation in the Mostra of the local firm Ondas do Mar, while Suso Calo and Estilo Aramar are repeating.

The 'ArtEncaixe' parade of the XXXII Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña has three new confirmations: Suso Calo and Estilo Aramar, who are repeating at the event, and Ondas do Mar, a local firm that is debuting this year.

Suso Calo, who specializes in silver and carving crafts, is committed to the ArtEncaixe parade as “a way to make oneself known and to give relevance to a work that, combined with lace, becomes much more visible.” “Lace allows for things that would be complicated in silver alone,” he says.

"This year for the catwalk they are prioritizing lace, most of the pieces are designed based on a lace applique and then I make the support in silver to turn it into an accessory that can be worn, whether it's a bracelet, an earring or a pendant," she says.

Viviana Araújo, from Estilo Aramar, comments that "this year I brought recycled pieces to the Show, such as a kimono made with the paper of used red tea bags in which the lace is incorporated into the back forming the trunk of a cherry tree and forming part of a Japanese landscape, with a gold leaf sun and silk flowers". "In other pieces I have combined dyeing techniques in the fabrics, the arashi or ice dyeing", he adds.

For her part, the Camariñana Josefina Campaña, says that “30 years ago I participated in the Mostra as a design student at the Camariñas workshop school and, three decades later, I am participating again with my own brand, 'Ondas do Mar'. “It is a great illusion, I am a Camariñana who comes from the Campaña family, in which we were taught to fight for our dreams”, she says.

“I have two pieces, in which I combine two arts: lace and brushes,” she says. “I think they are unique pieces, everything comes from my hands, that is what makes me feel most proud.” She emphasizes.
