The Dominican Combo and Irma Macías will perform at the Mostra to raise funds for ataxia research

Both the orchestra and the singer will donate the money paid by the City Council for their performance to the STOP FA association. In addition, there will be a stand for the association in the pavilion for purchases or donations.

The programming of the XXXI Mostra do Encaixe de Camariñas Provincial Council of A Coruña will include the solidarity concerts of the Dominican Combo and Irma Macías, who will be in Camariñas during Easter with the aim of raising funds for ataxia research.

Both the orchestra, which will perform at the closing ceremony, and the singer from Vitoria-Gasteiz and vocalist of Luar na Lubre, who will participate in the opening day accompanied by guitarist Xaquín Rama, will donate the money paid by the City Council for their performance to the STOP FA association, an entity that brings together people affected by this disease at a national level, to contribute to continuing the research that is being carried out to advance the treatment of the disease.

This initiative stems from the request that María Jesús González Souto, mother of a boy with ataxia and member of STOP FA, made to the mayor of Camariñas, Sandra Insua, to articulate some way to raise funds for the association.

“We are all clear that the Camariñas Lace Exhibition is about craftsmanship, tradition, fashion or avant-garde, but it is also about solidarity, and that is why we decided to do our bit to lend a hand to these families who are suffering so much due to the lack of progress in research,” explains Sandra Insua.

María Jesús González says that, during the 5 days of the Mostra, they will have a stand where you can buy different clothes, products, raffles or make donations to STOP FA. In addition, the City Council has provided a lace shawl, which will be sold at this charity stand.
