The City Council brings 'A sea of piques' to FITUR to promote the Festival and consolidate its position as a tourist destination

The International Tourism Fair (FITUR) held from January 22 to 26 at IFEMA (Madrid) was once again the place chosen by the City Council of Camariñas to present the XXXIV Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña and, at the same time, consolidate the municipality as a reference tourist destination in Galicia.

At the presentation, held at the Turespaña stand, the poster and promotional video of the thirty-fourth edition of the Mostra were unveiled, which will be held from April 16 to 20 under the slogan 'A sea of piques', a message that seeks to highlight the strong connection that exists in the town between the sea and lace, nature and tradition.

The mayor of Camariñas, Sandra Insua, explained that “I am always very proud of the posters and videos that we bring here to promote our municipality and our tradition, but this time I am especially excited to present them to you.” “They perfectly represent what Camariñas is: a balance between effort and beauty, between sea and land, between the past and the future,” she highlighted.

"We are not just promoting an event, we are celebrating a way of life. By bringing together the nasa and the chopstick pillow, a symbol of daily work and creativity, we wanted to capture the essence of what it means to be a Camariñón," he explained.

The mayor stressed that "both the video and the poster are made entirely by people from Camariñas and the Costa da Morte, who better than our people to talk about us. Talented people who show that, from our corner, as the palilleiras did at the time, we can create products of incalculable value."

"As many of you know, Camariñas is a paradise. It is the word we found to best describe a beauty of such caliber. Camariñas is made of lace and is also the sea, brave and beautiful, it is land, with endless beaches and imposing landscapes, all bathed in a sky of stars that allowed us to be a Starlight destination and always watched over by our guardian: the Vilán lighthouse, a legend of our people," he indicated.

Insua took advantage of his intervention at the Turespaña stand to present the official t-shirt of the thirty-fourth edition of the Mostra, which this year is once again the work of the Galician designer based in Marbella, Esteban Freiría, and which, referring to the slogan, depicts a sea of pikes.

'A sea of spades' in Holy Week

As in recent years, the poster and promotional video of the XXXIV edition of the Camariñas Lace Exhibition of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, which will be held during Easter, from April 16 to 20 under the slogan 'A sea of piques', were also presented at FITUR.

The objective sought during the creative process of these pieces was to reflect, in a visual story, the effort and beauty of the two fundamental pillars of the town, lace and the sea, weaving a narrative that speaks of daily work, dedication and love for the land, highlighting the hands that care, create and transform.

The script of the video, created by Diego Alonso Freire from Camariñas, revolves around a real couple from Camariñas: she, Silvia Tedín González, an administrator and a palillar; he, Sergio Vidal Campaña, skipper and owner of a coastal boat. Their routines, full of effort and dedication, serve as a reflection of the lives of many other people in the municipality. The piece culminates with a symbolic image that represents the union between the sea and lace: a pot and a palillar pillow are intertwined in a single object, a true declaration of love for the Camariñana culture.

The recording sought to capture the beauty of the scenery offered by the municipality. Each shot was carefully thought out to show significant corners of the town of Camariñas, from the statue of the palilleira to the Lace Museum, the welcome letters of CAMARIÑAS, the lace shops and the fishing port, combined with real scenes of work at sea.

To bring this idea to life, illustrator Laura Suárez was commissioned to create the poster. A resident of Cee and internationally recognized, Laura masterfully captured the spirit of the Mostra. Her work is not just a poster, but a piece of art that unites the traditional and the contemporary, highlighting the perfect fusion between the pillow and the basket, as a symbol of the symbiosis between sea and land.

The brilliant musicians from Camariña, the brothers Fran and Carlos Barcia Trashorras, created a soundtrack that is much more than just an accompaniment. Their composition combines the waves of the sea with the sound of the bolillos. In addition, Carla Valiña, from Camariña in Buría, lent her voice to the project to narrate the slogan at the end of the spot: 'Camariñas, a sea of piques'.

The mayor pointed out that "The XXXIV Lace Exhibition will continue in line with recent years, focusing on innovation and integration of lace in different Galician crafts in addition to fashion shows with the presence of some of the best designers in the country and also the promises of the world of design with the young designers' competition."

The soprano Soledad Vidal, soundtrack of the Mostra

During her speech, Sandra Insua announced that “this year at the Mostra we will have a very special guest, the well-known soprano Soledad Vidal, a resident of Camelle, who, together with pianist Aurelio Viribay, will present her recital 'Cantares Atlánticos'”.

Through Galician poetry and evocative images, the songs - such as "María Soliña" or "Lela" - weave different stories of overcoming. The audience will accompany the performers on a moving journey in which tribute is paid to all those women who, beyond pain and loss, build their lives with courage; the portrait of a Galicia, of a people that is capable of looking at its shadow, its "Black Shadow", in order to celebrate life.
