The 'ArtEncaixe' parade continues, year after year, gaining momentum, consolidating itself and attracting artisans from different parts of Galicia to demonstrate that lace is versatile and can be adapted to different materials. In this case, at the XXXII Camariñas Lace Fair, the Mestre Mateo School of Art and Design, from Santiago de Compostela, will be debuting.
They will do it with the participation of 15 students from the first year of Jewelry. “For them it is something exciting, to be able to carry out a project and have so many people see it, because normally what we do stays in the classroom,” explains the teacher at EASD Mestre Mateo, Ana Seara.
Ana says that “we will present more sculptural pieces, adapted to the parade, very large” and points out that “we are playing with alternative materials and we are working with laser cutting and methacrylate so they will have a lot of color.” “There will be masks, crowns, necklaces, earrings…”, she says.
For the boys and girls at EASD Mestre Mateo, "the process of applying the lace to their pieces was fun, it was a change from what they expected us to do in class and I think they enjoyed the project," commented the teacher.
