The Camariñas City Council has just made public the basis for the XXX competition of New Designers for the XXXIII Camariñas Lace Show of the Provincial Council of La Coruña, which will be held from March 27 to 31, 2024, in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP).
The main objective of the competition is to encourage and promote the application of Camariñas Lace in fashion, awarding three prizes to the best collections according to the assessment of the official jury. In this edition, the category of the most commercial collection is repeated.
The first prize will consist of 2,100 euros, the second of 1,200 euros, and both the third and the prize for the most commercial collection will have a financial endowment of 600 euros each.
The deadline to submit works begins today, Monday, September 4, and ends on December 1, 2023. The four designs that make up the collection must incorporate Camariñas lace, and those that use another type of lace will not be accepted.
All new designers can participate in the call, regardless of their nationality or country of residence, as long as they are students who are studying in centers that teach design and tailoring techniques, whether they have completed their studies or not, and all those people related to the world of design who, even if they are professionals in the field of fashion, maintain a contractual or autonomous relationship with a company in the sector and are not part of the design team of the same.
Participation can be individual or in groups, in the latter case with a maximum of three people. Each applicant will present a collection composed of 4 designs. The theme and modality are free, both for men's and women's fashion. Children's fashion designs are excluded.
The documentation can be presented at the Casa del Ayuntamiento de Camariñas, in Plaza de Insuela number 57, during office hours from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, or by certified mail.
The Councilor of the Exhibition, Encarna Liñeiro, hopes that "this new edition of the New Designers competition, which we are celebrating in its thirtieth edition, will serve to continue the avant-garde spirit to which the participants of previous editions have become accustomed".
