The Olería de Buño, Mar Barral and Susi Geso, in the 'ArtEncaixe' parade of the XXXII Camariñas Lace Show

This will be the first participation in the Mostra of the local firm Ondas do Mar, while Suso Calo and Estilo Aramar are repeating.

The 'ArtEncaixe' parade of the XXXII Camariñas Lace Fair of the Provincial Council of A Coruña has three new confirmations: The potters of Buño, Mar Barral and Susi Gesto, all experts in what it means to parade on the red carpet of the Fair.

Once again, the tradition of the potters of Buño is once again mixed with the lace of Camariñas. This time, it is done thanks to the expert hands of the Olería Feituras workshops.

According to Feituras, “participating in the Exhibition representing the Buño Pottery is a great honor” and explains that “lace gives our creations a naturalness, thanks to the union of two very different crafts that go together perfectly.”

For Olería Feituras, “it is quite a challenge since combining the two crafts is very complicated” but he highlights that “the result of combining clay and lace is beautiful, it gives a new vision to what we do”.

Mar Barral is facing her second year in the ArtEncaixe fashion show “with great enthusiasm” and says that “I am presenting a collection in which I make a ceramic intervention in the traditional Galician female costume.” “The Camariñas lace gives my pieces a touch of elegance and distinction,” she says.

Finally, Susi Gesto values her participation as “an opportunity to experience a symbiosis of Camariñas lace with the lace that makes up the purest filigree of the Compostela Goldsmithery, taking the pieces to other areas that I had not explored”. “In addition to experimenting with new materials, it also allows me to delve into interesting collaborations throughout the process, such as the one I did with the visual artist Ana Gesto and the musician and craftsman Pablo Pascual”, she states.

“On this occasion, the collection I am creating is partly inspired by Art Nouveau, we also provide a new reinterpretation of the Frog, the traditional piece par excellence of Galician goldsmithing, as well as introducing and designing new pieces,” he says.
