To this end, today it launched the project 'A Caramiña vai palillar aos coles', which seeks to reach families through those who can best carry a message, children.

This informative action, which will be carried out in schools in different areas of Galicia, was inaugurated today at the CEIP San Pedro de Visma and the Nosa Señora do Rosario Special Education Center, both in A Coruña. The event was attended by councilor Fabián Canosa; the representatives of the Mostra, Dolores Lema and Noemí Toba; the municipal librarian, Ana María; and the teacher at the Palillo Municipal School, Bea Dios.

The central theme of the presentation is a mascot: 'A Caramiña', which is a doll based on a drawing made by a girl from Palillaria, merging the plant of the caramiña with herself.

First, the schoolchildren were introduced to Camariñas lace through a folk tale staged with Chinese shadows by Ana Martínez: 'The conceited little rat'. The aim of this first step is to make the craftsmanship of Camariñas known through reading and literary creation. "The message of the tales reaches girls and boys in an intuitive way and is internalized unconsciously. This is how we want lace to reach everyone, enveloping us with its beauty", explained Ana María.

Then, Beatriz Dios explained the parts of the pillow, the characteristic points of the Lace, the way it was taught before and now and the differences between ours and the Europeans.

In addition, the most important tourist resources of Camariñas were also summarized to the schoolchildren, focusing especially on what they will be able to find if they come to the Mostra during Easter: from the application of lace to clothing and accessories to participating in the PequEncaixe parade.

The children from the municipal stick-making schools also wanted to actively participate in this project, and sent a video in which they explained to the schoolchildren in the first person why they like going to stick-making classes and participating in the Mostra every year, creating pieces that they give to their relatives and parading in the PequEncaixe.

The Legend of the Mermaid

Noemí Toba, a regular volunteer at the Mostra, also came to the schools, and projected a video of her own creation entitled 'The Legend of the Mermaid', which tells how the lace arrived in Camariñas.

Throughout the day, the schoolchildren showed enormous interest in lace, the Exhibition and Camariñas as a town and interacted continuously with enthusiasm and excitement about learning to crochet, as they also had the opportunity to work on the cushions and were given some cards where they could make a 'gana pan' lace puzzle and a bird.

This Monday, March 2, 2020, this program was inaugurated at the CEIP San Pedro de Visma and the Nosa Señora do Rosario Special Education Center, both in A Coruña.
